Starting
September 1st, 2010 and going until the end of the month we will be collecting as many
Compact Fluorescent light bulbs as possible. We hope to gather at least
500 bulbs to send to Haiti, Mexico and Honduras. We also hope to gather some
good cold cash to pay to ship these bulbs.

Light it up for Jesus!
What you can do:
1. If you have any new, still in the
package, compact fluorescent bulbs, you can donate them.
2. You can purchase some bulbs and
donate them. There are still State sponsored programs that allow you to
get a few bulbs at no cost. Costco and other warehouse stores have 10
packs for about $8. So, for low to no cost you
can help missions.
3. You can print out a flyer to
distribute at your church, work, school, or other organization to help
us gather as many bulbs as possible.
4. You can help sponsor a drive at
your church or other organization to collect and ship light bulbs. If
you have a youth group or other group that wishes to sponsor a light
bulb drive, please let us know. This can help your youth learn
organization skills, speaking skills, creativity, and many other useful
skills while helping a lot of people in third world countries.
We are currently looking for the
following items:
-
We need about 25 large barrels.
These are the cardboard type that stand about 3 to 4 feet tall and
are usually brown in color. We need these to put at local churches
to facilitate collection of Compact Fluorescent Bulbs.
-
We also need lots and lots of
Compact Fluorescent Bulbs. We want to be able to ship several
hundred of these in the next 3 months to missions all over the
world. By replacing old incandescent type bulbs we can take a heavy
load off the generators that power some missions, and the electric
bill that runs others. Most places now have these bulbs for about a
dollar, and some areas have rebates that take the cost down to
either nothing, or close to that. Please leave the bulb in the
original packaging as it needs to be this way to import to other
countries. If you have any questions please
email me.
-
I am also looking for technical
volunteers that desire to help us with future projects. Specifically
I am looking for people familiar with setting up computer rooms and
networks. I will also need some general labor people to open boxes
and assemble tables and the like.
-
I am also looking for people who
want to head up the light bulb collection and energy awareness
programs we want to start at local churches. If you feel you have a
desire to be part of our team "in the field" at your local church,
please
email me.
Thanks in advance to everyone
helping.
