Computer room Projects

This is the first Computer room I set up in Haiti. The computers were all donated by a company in Ohio. I sent down a few switches and other essentials to complete the system. We ended up hooking it all up to a satellite that fed internet to the systems. From what I understand it is standing room only in this classroom. My goal is to do one a month in Haiti providing I can get the space at various missions. My goal is to not burden the missions at all with the cost. If I can get all the systems donated, the cost of shipping them to the country covered, and enough "geeks" to donate time to go there and set things up, I think we can meet and beat that goal. I hope with enough education and training we can bring up the level of learning in Haiti where they can compete on the world market for industry employment. We can attack the unemployment and needs in two ways in Haiti; we can just send them food, or teach then to work for the food. In the short term we have to send food and supplies, but in the long term I think training them is the best measure. Also, I have been there and these are some of the most intelligent people you will ever meet. If we give them half the chance they will show us what they are capable of.
